“The conscious offspring of Reggae and Hip Hop drunk on Dance music”
This is Blee, the Black Lion of Eternal Excellence, a name handed down from his father foreseeing his son’s future to be great; this is Blee, this is his Life, this is his addiction….
A producer, writer and performer, Blee is the answer to today’s lost generation of those both young and old on a quest to find themselves amongst the chaos of a traditionalist uninspired society. They say it takes just one person to make a change, shake things up and set the pace and we say that Blee has come along at just the right time!
Growing up on the paradise Caribbean island of Montserrat, Blee started off his life instilled with values and structure. Tragedy struck his idyllic surroundings In July 1995 when the now infamous and tragic volcano erupted on the island destroying more than half the region including his childhood home. Uprooted, he moved to Canada to start a new life, he later made a move to the UK where he finally settled in London. With much trials experienced, much wisdom was gained – and now his early experiences have become the main influence for his music today….
Set with a mix of laid back Caribbean swagger, the passion of the American hustle and a slight touch of the British die hard attitude, he is a cultural cocktail of resilience.
Blee has now been writing and producing music for over 8 years now and in 2007 he decided to take total control and set up his own independent record label/production company Cross Seas Entertainment Ltd; Specialising in Hip Hop, Dancehall and other forms of Dance music. With intentions to both cultivate new artists and create a new generation of trendsetters he also feels it is important to hold on to what’s yours in order to stay true and fill that ever growing gap in the market.
To date he has released one compilation album project entitled “The Midnite Walk”, which is a Dancehall mix produced entirely by him, featuring and merging together an eclectic array of artists hailing from The UK, US, Montserrat, Jamaica and Nigeria.
He also made a takeover claim to the date Friday 13th with the launch of what he calls "Black Lion Friday". March 13th saw the release of his mixtape The Black Lion Chronicles Chapter 1 - which was the first in what will be a series of chronicles to be released at every forthcoming Friday 13th as long as, as he puts it, “I am motivated to make music".
The next release “Respect Your Legacy Reloaded” is due out Friday 13th August 2010. Not quite Chapter 3, this will be re-release of chapter 2 with some new material. In his own words, Blee says he is not ready to move on from Chapter 2 yet as it hasn’t received the exposure it deserves.
Though music is his first passion, Blee also holds intense passion and a sense of responsibility for those he sees around him on his travels everyday. Making a connection not just with his music, but with his heart he feels is incredibly important and he consequently has created and launched a philosophy called WWV – standing for ‘Wisdom- Wealth-Virtue’; Designed to inspire people to pursue a positive path in life.
"Gather Wisdom, use wisdom to gather Wealth and let your wealth be surpassed by your Virtue.”
Blee also plays the lead in a band called The Entertainment. Think Jay-Z 's magnetic flows and lyrics fusing with Linkin Park’s nu metal and soft rock sounds and you have The Entertainment! Unique in their approach which is born from the varying mix of sounds all coming together to create a mesh of one which blends perfectly. Currently performing in intimate gigs all over London, The Entertainment will be a name and sound you will hear in every household, IPod, and street corner soon.
All encompassing in talent, his presence is completely deceptive; his calm demeanor does not prepare you for the level of in depth focus and ability to inspire thought. He brings an unforgettable message with his music that is carried on a wave of powerful hooks that cannot be denied.
“It starts with music and ends with a Revolution”
This is Blee, this is his life, this is his music, this is his addiction…this is his legacy.
